Moloch worship was practiced by the Canaanites, Phoenicians, and related cultures in North Africa and the Levant. As well as: Moloch is the Biblical name relating to a Canaanite god associated with child sacrifice. The name of this deity is also sometimes spelled Molech, Milcom, or Malcam. Just seems a bit of a coincidence at the moment to me.
