Born Zhosefina Leonidovna Pasternak in Moscow, Russia, on February 19, 1900; died in Oxford, England, on February 16, 1993; daughter of Leonid Osipovich Pasternak (1862-1945) and Rosalia (Rozalia) Isidorovna Kaufman Pasternak (1867-1939); sister of Aleksandr Pasternak (1893-1982), Boris Pasternak (1890-1960), and Lydia Leonidovna.
